The Legal Details of Death
Humans are the only creatures with a
conscious knowledge of their own mortality.
Yet, this knowledge does not make dealing
with this reality seem any easier.
I know the turmoil and disquiet evoked
by the death of a loved one. As the lawyer
in the family, it was my responsibility to
execute the legal preparations before my
Father’s death and finalize the correct legal
course of action afterward.
I cannot say
that this was a pleasure but I can say that
I felt a great honor to participate in these
responsibilities.
To those who find themselves charged with
this obligation, my professional advice is

most people imagine.
